Smallholder farmers in semi-arid regions plan around rain that is lower and less predictable than it was a generation ago. Most households still plant maize.
In [Insert region name], the long rains failed in two of the last five seasons.

Drafting, from your notes
Help with the writing that starts from what you know.
Give DraftNode your topic, objectives, method and notes. You approve the outline. Then it drafts one section at a time from your material, cites only the sources you chose, and marks what’s missing instead of making it up.
Your notes for 1.1 Background
- long rains failed 2 of last 5 seasons
- maize most exposed, still most planted
- insurance pays on measured rainfall (Osei & Rivera 2019)
Drafted section Draft, not yet reviewed
In two of the last five seasons the long rains failed, and maize, the crop most households still plant, was the most exposed. Weather-indexed insurance pays out on measured rainfall rather than field inspections (Osei & Rivera, 2019). In [Needs your input: the region], uptake has grown.
From your notes: 3Your source: Osei & Rivera1 gap for you
- You approve the structure before anything is written.
- Every draft is marked until you review or edit it.
- One tap gives you an honest statement of how AI helped.
A chat gives you text. Your supervisor marks a document.
What you get from a chat window
- Paragraphs with ** and ## scattered through them
- Headings typed as plain text, so nothing updates
- References that may not exist
- No contents page, no captions, no page numbers
- An opening line that gives the game away
What DraftNode hands back
- A Word file formatted to the requirements you set
- Headings that number themselves when you edit
- References checked against real scholarly records
- A contents page, lists of tables and figures, captions
- A PDF that matches the Word file page for page
Use both if you like: think in a chat, finish here.

Is this allowed at my university? Here’s the honest answer.
It depends on your institution’s AI policy, so read it. Formatting, checking references and help with structure are allowed almost everywhere. If you use DraftNode to draft from your notes and your university asks you to say so, DraftNode writes the statement for you from its record of what you wrote and what it drafted.
We never offer to hide AI use or get past detection tools. That isn’t what we’re for.
I used DraftNode, an AI writing tool, while preparing this document. About 30% of the final text began as an AI draft produced from my own notes, objectives and chosen sources. Sections 2.1 to 2.3 were drafted with AI from my notes, then reviewed and revised by me. The ideas, data, sources and conclusions are mine.

Fair questions
- Why not just use ChatGPT?
- Use it for thinking if it helps you. A chat gives you text; your university marks a document: styles, numbering, a contents page that updates, captions, and references that exist. DraftNode does that last mile, to the requirements you set.
- Will it change my writing?
- Not without asking. Formatting is automatic. Anything that adds or removes words, like a chatbot line, a duplicate reference or a caption, is shown to you first and only happens if you keep it switched on.
- Does DraftNode know my university’s formatting rules?
- It uses yours. Paste the formatting part of your department’s guide, or set the font, spacing, margins, page numbers and citation style yourself, and DraftNode shows you every line it applied. Rules differ between departments and change from year to year, so check your department’s latest requirements before you submit. DraftNode is an independent service, not affiliated with or endorsed by any university or college.
- What happens to my file?
- Only you can open it. An upload you don’t save is deleted after 24 hours. You can download everything we hold about you, or delete your account, from your settings.
- What if a payment goes through but something fails?
- You’re never charged for work that wasn’t delivered. Drafting pages are only taken for what was actually written, and a format that fails is retried and if it still fails, we refund you.
- Can I use it on my phone?
- Yes. Check, review and download on any phone, and make and edit slides there too: tap a slide to change its words, or type what you want in plain words. Most people do the final edits on a laptop, and DraftNode keeps your project in step across both.
Your deadline won’t move. Your formatting can stop being the problem.
